year in review - year 3

Despite what a wild time it has been, 2020 and 2021 have given me amazing opportunities to develop as a marketer, through my classes but especially through my co-op with Siemens DISW which is highlighted below.

Embedded above is the Siemens Partner Blog, with a submission that I wrote. Blog-writing about software was way out of my comfort zone, and often it made me deal with some imposter syndrome. I'd never written blogs like this, I've only written about myself and my life and my experiences. This co-op with Siemens Digital Industries Software was undoubtedly a huge impact on my professional career. I can call myself a content-writer, write with SEO in mind, and point to real-life works that have a global audience. The more I work on digital marketing strategy and content creation, the more I have felt like I have made the best choice for my major and my future path.

In the upcoming year, which may or may not be my last (who really knows when you'll plan to graduate when you have the co-op program), I hope to find a job that I love in marketing, wherever it may be. I hope to continue to get my feet wet in things I'm interested in and to complete my business capstone this fall with flying colors (while I continue philosophy into the Spring and possibly Summer). All the while, I hope to grow as an "entrepreneur" of sorts as I continue personal training and possibly starting my own online personal training business.

My life has taken many twists and turns this past year, taking classes that don't really match their course description, taking on a project I didn't expect to be part of my co-op, and getting moved teams 2 weeks before my summer co-op started from a position that I accepted in March 2020 to a team I have never heard of and has 0 relation to the job I applied to and accepted. With all these twists and turns however, I feel blessed because these paths have been confusing and at times aggravating or devastating, but they've all turned out to be for the best and I'm getting even more experience in areas I never would have expected and learning things more related to my major than I would have if I had taken my original paths. I've been resilient this past year but I couldn't be more thankful for the opportunities that COVID times have given me, especially when this time has simultaneously taken away so much.
